2008 Football Ticket and Parking Policy

email Icon email a question

The projected seating map (click on map to the left) is a "best guess" of where donors may be seated. It is intended to be a guide not an absolute indication of where each person's seat will be located. Your annual gift and overall priority points will ultimately determine where your seats will be located.

Q: Do I have to pledge $6,200 or more in order to be assigned the
same seats as I had in 2007?
A:

If you pledge $6,200 in 2008, you will be guaranteed to keep the same seats. However, depending on the location of your seats, you may not need to make a pledge at that level. There will certainly be individuals who keep their same seats from the 2007 without making a $6,200 pledge. If your 2007 seat location is available at the time of your seat assignment and you indicated that you want the same seats, you will be assigned the same location.

Example I. If you have had seats in section 121 and have been contributing $600 each year, your seats will be assigned in priority point order. When your order is filled and your seats are assigned, you could be assigned in the same seats as before, provided you want to stay in the same location.

Example II. If you have had seats in the lower level end zone, section 117, you will notice on the projection map that this section is projected to be a Group D section. If you have been a donor (or want to become a donor in 2008) and would like to keep these seats, you will have priority over any non-donor in this area. You should make your pledge by March 31st and indicate that you would like to keep your same seat location.

Q:
I am a $300 donor and have seats in section 116, can I keep them or do I have to move to a section designated for Group C?
A:
You can request to keep your same seats, which will likely still be available, or request to be assigned to a different location on the sideline based on your priority.

Q:
I currently contribute $1,250 and have seats on the 30-yard line in section 109. What are my options if I increase my gift to $2,500 or if I decide to stay at my current giving level?
A:

If you increase your gift to $2,500, you will be able to select your seats in priority order and could receive the same seats you currently have if they are available at the time of your selection. You would most likely need to be ranked in the top 30% of Group B. If you maintain your current gift level of $1,250, you would likely be assigned seats in section 111 or upper deck 50-yard line half way up the section. You will have input into your assignment.

Q:
I have been giving to the Foundation and buying tickets for 25 years. I have also given to other projects such as the John Paul Jones Arena project. How am I "rewarded" for that support and how does that affect my seating options?
A:

The priority point formula awards points for consecutive years of giving and bonuses for the 15th and 25th year of giving. You also receive priority points for your contribution to the John Paul Jones Arena or any other gift made to athletics. It is your 2008 Annual Campaign gift or pledge that places you in a selection or assignment group. You are then ranked according to your priority point total within your group.

Q: Once I get my seats, how long do I get to keep them and how much do I need to give to keep them?
A: Your seats will remain the same as long as you maintain your giving level and until the policy is reviewed. The football seating and parking policy will be reviewed in total every three years, so seats could be adjusted in three years. Each year the Foundation Board of Trustees reviews the giving levels and benefits-on average the giving levels have increased every 3 or 4 years. The giving levels are increased in response to increases in tuition levels set by the University of Virginia Board of Visitors.

Q: What is the timeline for the new policy?
A:
January 3 Annual Campaign materials mailed
February 15 Football ticket applications mailed
March 31 Annual Campaign pledges
April 4 Season ticket orders due
Mid-April Individual appointment dates and times for seat selections mailed
May Groups A and B begin seat selections
June and July Groups C and D will be assigned seats
August 2008 football tickets will be mailed

Q: How will parking be assigned?
A: The parking selection and assignment process will follow the same procedure as the seat assignments. For donors who contribute below $2,500 and qualify for reserved parking ($1,250 minimum to apply for parking), they will be assigned spaces in priority point order from the spaces remaining after Groups A and B have selected their spaces. It is projected that all 1,800 numbered spaces adjacent to the stadium will be assigned to donors giving $2,500 or more. There are approximately 3,000 reserved spaces on game day that includes those lots near, but adjacent to, Scott Stadium.
