Giving Opportunities
Every year, the Virginia Athletics Foundation embarks on its fund-raising campaign from January 1 to December 31. The goal for 2008 is $15.4 million.Your gift can be designated in the following ways:
Annual Campaign
Annual gifts help grow and enhance Virginia Athletics. Three hundred thirty-nine of our donors have made a gift for the past 37 years. Contributions can be unrestricted or designated to the sport of your choice through a "Friends Of" gift.
An unrestricted gift will go where it is needed most—towards scholarships, academic support, operational budgets, and other departmental needs.
• "Friends Of"
Your annual gift can be directed to support the scholarship and operational costs for an individual Olympic sports program.
"Friends Of" gifts are part of the Annual Campaign and receive the same priority point credit. These gifts provide scholarship and operating support for the program you choose, and each program relies on these gifts to fund their annual operating budget.
The "Friends Of" program is a great option for student-athlete alumni, parents and individuals with a special interest in a particular sport.
• Young Alumni
The Young Alumni program provides a sliding scale of a matching gift to help those just starting in the workforce to begin giving at the $100 giving level. For example, in the first year after you graduate, your gift of $25 will be matched with $75 from the Foundation to give you a total donation of $100. Two years after your graduation, your contribution is $50, and is matched with $50 and in the third year, your contribution is $75, matched with $25.
• Employer Matching Gifts
Make your gift have a bigger impact. Many corporations match eligible gifts made by their employees. Contact your employer's human resources department for information about their matching gift program and to obtain the proper forms. Please check your company's criteria to determine whether they will match an athletics-related gift.
