Endowments
When a gift is made to the endowment, the Foundation invests it for long-term growth. The earnings generated by the investment are used to support the scholarship or operational needs in the area that you have chosen to endow.

The current endowment exceeds $65 million, but the goal is to reach $100 million by December 2011.

Every donor can make a gift to the endowment. Naming opportunities begin at $50,000. A gift of $500,000 allows the donor to name an athletics scholarship in the sport of choice. Currently, there are 33 named scholarships. In addition, endowments to support the operational budgets of each of U.Va.'s 25 sports can also be established.

Capital Gifts
The Virginia Athletics program is committed to building and maintaining the finest facilities in the country. The importance of having great facilities is not only to recruit top student-athletes, but to enhance the game-day atmosphere for the fans. The Virginia Athletics Foundation coordinates the fund-raising efforts for those capital projects.

The recently completed John Paul Jones Arena, privately funded by donors, is perhaps the crown jewel of the U.Va. athletic facilities. Future plans include renovations to Klockner Stadium (soccer/lacrosse), The Park (softball), and Davenport Field (baseball).

Many planned gifts provide benefits to you and your family, such as significant tax savings and lifetime income. Some of the options for deferred giving include:
